jaw's view
I tried and tried to post an image, but it was a no-go.
I do write and should be able to describe what I see.
From my seat in the coffee shop...
a wall
muddy, terra-cotta red
earthy
brilliant crimson poppies seep out of it
the moon guards them
stars illuminate them
leather chairs huddle around round glass tops
floating
awaiting coffee drinkers
listening to jazz
oh, that's me
I finished the first draft of my YA novel yesterday March 6, at 2:05 PM
It comes in at just under 51,000 words.
I am ahead of schedule so I shall write my column for April, revise a short story (at the request of an editor,) and write a short blog for you all.
Tomorrow I begin the revision and editing.
Happy writing

WOW!
Congrats!
Having registered only a week ago, I am now feeling overwhelmed!!! :-)
No need to feel overwhelmed!
Or feel that you're behind everyone else, because you've entered the contest later than others. Please read through a few of my older posts. We don't expect you to "complete" your work in time for the April 30th deadline, but we do want you to write and submit your very best - even if it's only twenty pages, followed by a complete synopsis of the rest of the story or collection. This contest is meant to be motivating, not intimidating! I hope that you find it fun, not arduous.

I agree with Susan
Do not languish Lady Lorraine.
I spent 5 weeks writing the first draft of the novel. It’s quite awful. I am at present on the second draft, and it is improving, but as a novice, I do not think that I have the ability to polish the novel for presentation to a publisher, but that is what the Coffee Shop author is all about…I understand. ;-)
THANKS Susan!
Actually I am enjoying every moment.... I think I was just tired after a very busy weekend! I am now 'back in the moment' and should be good to go! Thanks so much for responding to my moment of panic! LL

Congrats
Congratulations on finishing your first draft. Good luck with the revisions!
